Arts Open Afternoon

The Arts (Visual Art and Music) Open Afternoon will be held on Monday, September 16th from 2.40pm to 5pm.

The Senior Art room and Junior Art room will be open for exhibition viewing. There will also be an interactive art installation in the senior art room that will be open for the students and parents/caregivers to become part of.

The installation/landscape is inspired by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. Students will be invited to contribute to painting and decorating  the found and reusable objects to create the temporary installation. Please note that students will need to be accompanied by an adult for painting.

The Music room will also be open for viewing. The choir, ensembles and bands will be singing and playing near the undercover area.

Great Vegie Crunch

As a part of our school’s commitment to the ‘Crunch & Sip’ program, all classes at HPS will participate in the Great Vegie Crunch on Wednesday the 18th of September (Week 9).

On this day, students are asked to please bring in a small container of vegetables to eat and fresh water to drink. At a specified time during the school day, all students will be able to crunch on their vegetables and sip on their water.

Our goal is to have as many students engage in this event as possible in order to promote healthy lifestyle choices amongst our school population!

    Yr 4 Pillowcase Incursion

    The Red Cross Pillowcase Incursion is aimed at students in Years 3 and 4 (ages 8-10), the one hour workshop involves engaging discussions and interactive activities to help students:

    • Understand and discuss the importance of being prepared
    • Prepare their mind for the thoughts and feelings that may arise before, during and after an emergency
    • Know the difference between need and want items and what to pack in an emergency kit

    Each student is then given a pillowcase to decorate and take home, to start their own personal emergency kit.
